In the Night Court, it’s winter, and Feyre wakes up to snowfall. Rhysand is not there because he’s busy with war allies discussing trade. This isn’t unusual as Rhys often meets with allies.

Winter Solstice is approaching, and it brings back memories of last year when Feyre was in the Spring Court with Tamlin and Rhys saved her.

Rhys is dealing with a dispute between Cassian and Devlon about letting female Illyrians train in war-camps. They settle on allowing them 90 minutes to train and having males help with female tasks. Another issue arises as some believe their males were placed in dangerous positions in a battle. Cassian and Rhys need to address this.

In Velaris, Feyre explores the damaged Rainbow and meets a faerie named Ressina who informs her about a family that escaped a destroyed house, thanking Feyre for saving them during the war.

Feyre and Mor shop for gifts and discuss visiting the Hewn City with Rhys as a Solstice tradition.

They arrive at the Hewn City, where Mor’s father and Eris are present. Eris discusses expanding the Autumn Court’s territory, which raises concerns. Rhys learns that Tamlin guards the borders to the Mortal Lands.

Rhys’s spymaster, Azriel, tells him about discontent in the Illyrian war-camps, though it’s not widespread.

Rhys visits the Spring Court and finds it deserted except for Tamlin, who refuses Rhys’s offer of assistance. Rhys becomes upset with Tamlin.

Instead of attacking Rhys, Tamlin asks him to leave. Rhys confides in Feyre, realizing he hasn’t gotten her a gift yet.

Cassian helps Feyre decorate, and everyone gathers for dinner. Elain mentions Nesta, who doesn’t want to join any celebrations.

During dinner, Elain asks Amren about returning to being human, which Amren dismisses. Azriel defends Elain, and the mood improves.

Feyre and Rhys find Nesta at a pub, inviting her to join the celebration. Nesta refuses, mentioning Feyre’s rent.

Feyre asks Amren about Nesta, and Amren reveals they’re close but won’t disclose Nesta’s issues. Feyre asks Amren to tell Nesta they want her to celebrate.

On the Winter Solstice, Rhys surprises Feyre with gifts. Rhys is taken away for a Solstice tradition with Cassian and Azriel.

Lucien arrives, and Feyre invites him to live with them, but he declines. They argue, and Lucien leaves.

Feyre learns Elain doesn’t want anyone around and respects her wishes. Mor takes Feyre to a snowball fight tradition.

After the snowball fight, they make a sauna. The celebration includes a birthday cake, dinner, and gift exchange.

Nesta arrives late, and they exchange gifts. Nesta takes the check Feyre offers and leaves, followed by Cassian.

Cassian tries to mend their relationship but fails. Nesta walks away, and Cassian throws his gift into the river.

Cassian returns home, and Feyre prepares for bed. Rhys takes her to a cabin and changes her tattoo. Feyre expresses her desire to have a child. Rhys reveals he bought a house with a room for a baby.

Rhys visits Tamlin, and they discuss forgiveness and the past. Rhys leaves the Spring Court after preparing food for Tamlin.
