“A Court of Mist and Fury” by Sarah J. Maas is the second book in the “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series. It tells the story of Feyre Archeron as she explores the fae world, dealing with politics, love, and self-discovery. It’s an enchanting fantasy book.

Book Summary

Feyre is trying to live a normal life with her fiancΓ©, Tamlin, after a traumatic experience in the Under the Mountain court. She’s been resurrected as a High Fae and is haunted by the murders she committed to save Tamlin’s people. Tamlin, also traumatized by her death, becomes possessive and keeps her locked up despite her desire to help. On their wedding day, Feyre wants to stop the ceremony, but before that happens, Rhysand, the High Lord of the Night Court, appears to claim a bargain he made with her during her imprisonment.

Feyre initially resents Rhys but soon finds more freedom with him. He trains her in her newfound powers given by the seven High Lords of Prythian. As they train, an attraction develops between them, and Feyre gets to know Rhys’s Inner Circle, who she considers as family.

When Feyre returns to the Spring Court, Tamlin wants her to spy on Rhys and the Night Court, locking her up despite her protests. She escapes to the Night Court and decides to leave Tamlin. Rhys reveals a secret city called Velaris and a plan to stop the King of Hybern from using a dangerous Cauldron. They need a book split between the Summer Court and mortal queens.

To prepare, Feyre sneaks into the Weaver’s cottage to retrieve a lost ring. Despite a close encounter, she succeeds, and Rhys becomes confident in her abilities. They go to the Summer Court, deceive Tarquin, and steal their half of the book. They then meet with the mortal queens, who refuse to give their half until they show Velaris through a magical orb.

While trying to decipher the book, they are attacked, and Rhys is injured. Feyre saves him and discovers they are mates, which angers her. She goes to a secluded cabin to deal with her feelings.

Later, Rhys reveals his reasons for hiding the truth, and they plan to nullify the Cauldron’s magic. Before they can execute their plan, Hybern’s soldiers attack Velaris, and Feyre defends the city with her friends. They then head to Hybern but are captured. The King reveals that the mortal queens and Tamlin are his allies.

Feyre agrees to go with Tamlin to save her sisters, while Rhys and his Inner Circle escape. Back at the Night Court, Rhys informs Feyre that she’ll be his spy on Tamlin and the King to destroy them from within.

Character destruction of both Tamlin and Rhysand, the former turned into an ab*sive psycho and the latter turned into a spineless simp. Not continuing with the series, this left a bad taste in my mouth.

After not reading for years, I picked up the ACOTAR series. This was my favorite book in the series and I read this one in two days.

I dreamed of these characters in the nights I was reading this… I couldn't think of anything else but them. I cried. I laughed. Then I sobbed again. This book definitely lives up to every hype you heard and then some. If I could only bring one thing with me to a desert island… it would be this book (preferably if I was rereading it again for the first time).

I didn't like the slowness of the 1st book but this book right here turned it all around for me and made me fall in love. I'm so ready for the next one.

And here I was completely entranced by ACOTAR. I was not mentally prepared for how this one went. Screw Tamlin. RHYSAND 😍😍😍😍 ugh. I loved seeing Feyre learn about her new talents and grown into a high fae. I now understand all of the hype surrounding these books.

I read several posts on my fb book groups that you need to wait until the second book to really get into the series, and while I did not find that the be true, as much I enjoyed the first one it's true that the second really does take it to a whole different level. I was cheering out loud at the end of this book. I love when that happens. This series is so amazing, I can't wait to read the rest!

The future you are rushing toward may not be what you want after a life changing event. How a person can see things and understand her situation so differently when seen with new eyes.

I had never been a fantasy fan, but here I am, drooling over how fun this was! I loved every bit of it! I couldn't seem to get enough, binge-reading at any available opportunity. The twists and turns and burns were perfect. They kept me hooked, but weren't too fast. It was deliberate and thoughtful, each detail planted perfectly. I highly recommend!

I really enjoyed the 2nd in the Acotar series. I will be honest and say that I thought there would be more 🌢️. But the spice that was there was built nicely and the author really took time in developing the characters before just throwing the reader into it. I would recommend this book! Can't wait to read the 3rd installment

ACOMAF did not disappoint! Just like with ACOTAR, I was still a little skeptical, but it was phenomenal. I loved all the twists and turns. My jaw dropped to the floor no less than three times for plot twists I didn't see coming. I love the banter between Rhys and Feyre, as well as all the new characters introduced. I can't wait to see what happens with Velaris and Prythian in the book, which I'll undoubtedly be starting immediately.

I'm late to the party reading this series so I know a few spoilers but to be honest, it didn't ruin the reading experience. I followed along with every emotional spiral and sudden understanding Feyre had. It is so well written that even if I knew I would eventually feel differently about some characters I still felt everything Feyre felt at that time towards them. The twists and turns in the story kept the waiting game incredibly exciting. I'm immediately purchasing the third book and laying in bed all day to devour as much as I can!

Absolutely a wonderful read, so much drama, I couldn't put it down. Watching characters slip and slide into who they really are is magical, in both good and bad ways, and I can't GWT enough!

It's always fun when book two in a popular series is as good or better than its predecessor! In this novel Feyre is preparing for her wedding to Tamlin when her life suddenly turns around and she finds herself again in the middle of action.Things I really enjoyed in book two:β™₯ Feyre truly thrived as a person in her new enviroment and through exploring her new powers - I really liked that for her! β™₯ The "flight team" was the coolest since Harry Potter. Loved their adventures! β™₯ The romance, the love story was top notch - seductive and exciting.Other thoughts: β™‘ 🌢️ level went waaay up compared to book one. β™‘ I was a little bummed for Tamlin. I felt that he didn't get a chance to redeem himself at the beginning of the book. β™‘ I ended up liking Rhysand's character better than Feyre's - never thought I'd say that before reading this installment.Overall, what an adventure of a read! You definitely won't be bored for a minute despite the hefty size of this volume. Count me in for book three!

I love Feyre and Rhys together the chemistry between them and the banter is just perfect.
